Postcards from Asia/Postcards from Abroad

On the Air

Since 2004, it's been possible to travel to East Asia without leaving your radio thanks to the Center for East Asian Studies' radio series Postcards from Asia. The 60-second program is a collaboration between KPR and the Center. Altogether we’ve broadcast more than 300 glimpses of the quirkier aspects of life in China, Japan, Korea and Mongolia.

Recently, we've decided it's time to broaden our horizons – and yours. To that end, we've transformed "Postcards from Asia" into "Postcards from Abroad." In addition to the Center for East Asia Studies, this series will now also feature content provided by the Center for Global and International Studies, the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, the Kansas African Studies Center, the Center for Russian, Eastern European and Eurasian Studies and the Office of International Programs.

Never fear! You can still listen to all the past episodes of Postcards from Asia and also view transcripts of the program.

The theme music for Postcards from Abroad was written and recorded by Chubby Smith, local musician and sound engineer for the Postcards series.

You can also hear us live on the air by tuning in to KPR on Wednesdays at 8:58 PM and on Saturdays at 1:04 PM.
